Welcome to the Club Jameco Electronics Project Whiteboard.
Ok designers, have we got a challenge for you! Long time Jameco customer Greg Miller needs to located a piece of re-bar buried in his yard. He needs help designing a “magnetic locator” like those used by land surveyors to find corner markers and utility companies use to find buried steel and iron pipe. We’re turning over the design details to the experts. Can you come up with a design that will fulfill Greg’s need?
Tell us about the project that made you happy to make, complete and still makes you smile.
Are you an electronics freak? Do you like circuits and call yourself a geek? This place is The Lab where Dexters are born and ideas are generated. Share your crazy or sensible ideas here and let our community convert them into working kits.
From Richard of Houston, TX: I stayed at an Arizona hotel a few weeks ago for three nights. The hotel HVAC controller monitors motion in the room. If there is no motion, there is no AC and no mechanical over-ride. Every night of my stay I was awakened at about 3:00AM by extremely hot, stagnant air. As soon as I got out of bed to check the AC setting, the AC came on and cooled the room down. But it was too late; I was already wide awake. What can be done to keep the system active while sleeping?
We require designers/builders with electronics knowledge. Pick up any of the following ideas and work on it to make a successful Club Jameco project...but hurry before someone else snatches it up!
We recently got our hands on a Type-A 3D printer for Club Jameco. We are having as much fun talking about all the printing ideas as doing the actual printing. So we thought we would let Club Jameco members in on the fun. Our 3D printer is here for one member’s design. What would you like to create that you can’t normally find in a catalog or store? We will take our favorite customer idea that best exemplifies the need for a 3D printer. Then we will ask you for the file (.STL or .gcode), print the object and send it to you. Please respond to the Club Jameco Whiteboard by September 30 and we will post our favorite by Oct 5.
There are many hobbyists who love the kit building process, but simply don't have the time to do it! Do you want to provide your labor services and build kits for these people? If so, sign in to let them know you're here and you're ready to build!
Attention Club Jameco Hackers: Enter the Hack contest by submitting your hack ideas here. Choose any Club Jameco project, and submit an idea describing how you could improve the design of the project.. Top 15 ideas will earn a Club Jameco t-shirt!
Take the baseball design challenge! How could you design a technology that could instantly determine whether a runner is safe or out at home plate? Essentially, your design would determine which event occurred first: did the runner touch the plate of did the fielder tag the runner (with ball in hand). For our purposes, simple is better.
